Empowering Adolescents for a Healthy and Informed Future:
Adolescence is a critical stage marked by rapid physical, physiological, and behavioral changes. Most health problems during this phase are preventable, yet adolescents often lack accurate knowledge, guidance, and support due to fragmented health programs and limited parental and institutional awareness. Recognizing adolescents as the future strength of the nation, our organization conducts comprehensive adolescent health initiatives including seminars, group meetings, awareness sessions, and sanitary napkin distribution to promote informed, healthy, and confident youth development.
Strengthening Reproductive and Child Health Services in the Sundarbans:
The Reproductive and Child Health (RCH) program aims to reduce maternal, infant, and child mortality through preventive and promotive health services. In selected poor coastal villages of the Sundarbans, SIDS implemented limited RCH activities based on survey findings. The program provided antenatal check-ups, immunization, family planning awareness, and adolescent health education through orientation camps and seminars. Support from the Health Department ensured quality resource persons and essential health materials.
Nutrition Training to Combat Anemia and Child Malnutrition in the Sundarbans:
Shibganj Integrated Development Society (SIDS) works to address severe anemia among women and malnutrition among children in the Sundarbans, caused by poor food habits, hygiene, and service gaps. To combat this, SIDS organized a two-day Nutrition Training on 16–17 March 2025 at Pathar Pratima. Thirty-four women leaders from eight villages were trained on balanced diets, maternal nutrition, and child care by Dr. Chaitali Mondal, strengthening community capacity to prevent malnutrition.
